Dr. Taryn Atlin is a clinical psychologist with a passion for improving people’s sleep. Dr. Atlin’s interest in sleep began during graduate school, where her doctoral research focused on psychological treatments for insomnia, and she worked as a therapist and researcher on various insomnia clinical trials throughout her graduate training. Since graduating, Dr. Atlin’s clinical work has included a specialization in the area of sleep disorders and cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia. Once becoming a mother to three young children, Dr. Atlin became interested in the area of infant and toddler sleep as well, as her first child was an extremely sensitive sleeper and she experienced first - hand the negative impact that sleep deprivation can have on the entire family. In order to expand her practice to support families with infants and toddlers who are not sleeping as well as they could or following bedtime rules, Dr. Atlin completed specialized training through the Family Sleep Institute and became a certified pediatric sleep consultant. As a founding partner at Sleep Smart Psychology Group, Dr. Atlin utilizes her research and clinical training in sleep science, in combination with her experience as a psychologist and mom, to provide individually tailored sleep treatments that best support her clients across the lifespan.
Dr. Atlin obtained her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Ryerson University. She completed an APA - accredited predoctoral internship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Belmont, Massachusetts. Prior to founding Sleep Smart Psychology Group, Dr. Atlin worked at several private clinics in Toronto. In addition to her sleep work, Dr. Atlin currently maintains a private practice providing assessment and treatment services to adolescents and adults with difficulties related to their mood, anxiety, perinatal mental health, emotion regulation, and impulsive behaviours.
